(Please take note that this news is neither confirmed nor denied by any member of the USA Boxing Administrations, still awaiting details but relaible source have stated some discussion going on). While at work tonight I was glued to my iPhone to receive the news of the finals match up at the 2011 US Olympic Trails. Between patient care and boxing enthusiam I waited until all my duties were done for the night so I could see the results of the Finals. It was exciting at first as I imagined the smiles and celebration of the likes of Thompson, Warren, Hunter and Ramirez (to name a few) as they were announced champions and the possible representatives of the United States at the 2012 Olympic games. However, while finally arriving hoime I received some very disturbing news. Imagine the final out of a kickball game when you were a little kid. Team down by one with two outs and you are the last hope for the win. You step up to the plate and the pitcher rolls a bouncer at full speed. You connect and its over the fence. The team goes wild in gym class and you celebrate as you get ready to round first and you hear those dreaded words: "Do over!" You stepped ahead of the plate and kicked the ball and it doesn't count. Devastated and upset you go back to home to try and make that magic happen again. But, problem is its not always guaranteed to happen again. While walking my dogs I received a phone call from Denver Boxer Examiner Stephen Johnson who told me that a relaible and anoynmous source informed him that it was rumored that one of the judges for the Olympic Trails was not registered for the 2011 year. I shook my head in disbelief as I continued to try and walk my dogs. He stated there was suppose to be a meeting however and he would learn more information tomorrow. I decided to find out on my own from another source and they confirmed to me that they did hear about something like that happening but things were not being discussed. If this is indeed true it is a possibility that the Olympic Trails would be voided and all competitiors would have to do it all over again. More information to come and hopefully this allegedl report is addressed and untrue. But, if it isnt this could be a huge blow for actually winners. |

According to a reliable and very credible source the official in question actually had the opportunity to take any and all required testing to be certified with USA Boxing but refused to do so and was well aware of the issue to certify. However, despite this being known the superiors still let it go thru.
Plain and simple: THIS COULD OF BEEN TOTALLY AVOIDED!!
I THINK THAT IF THE OFFICIAL ISN'T REGISTERED WITH USA BOXING FOR THE 2011 calendar YEAR THAN THERE IS A VALID PROTEST TO BE MADE. BUT GUESS WHAT?!?
The AIBA World Championships are less than a few weeks away, THE IOC IS THR OVERSEEING BODY OF BOTH THE USAB AND AIBA. IF SAID OFFICIAL WAS INDEED REGISTER BY AIBA I CAN SEE THE IOC OVERTURNING ANY GRIEVANCE FILED SINCE SAID JUDGE HAD THE SAME TRAINING ON THE COMPUTER SCORING SYSTEM AND POSSIBLY USED THE SYSTEM NUMEROUS TIMES.
However, if said judge is not registered by AIBA in this calendar....."do over" may come up....
